The Gospel told by a common man
A Poem by Coyote Poetry
The Gospel told by a common man
Men with wife and children.
Fugitive to the ability to succeed.
With the grain of hope.
We beckon for a trace of kindness.
Poverty inflicts all with equality.
Race and religion mean nothing.
When you are hungry and homeless.
Frigid and endangered economy.
Erode hopes and dreams.
Held hostage by Leaders in Washington.
Common man and woman forsaken.
Left on the sideline hoping and praying.
Humph and fuck by loan companies.
Soon Americans will become nomads.
Wars expedite hiding the flames of truth.
Shameless leaders beleaguer us with stories
of Devils and ghosts.
Soon we will will be isolated and lobotomy.
Be like tame relics in a museum.
Need to remove our restrains.
Start the saga of forth-right people.
Stop the epidemic of lies.
Chastise the thieves and so-call leaders.
We must lust for a good world.
Jump over hurdles of hate and violence.
Began a eulogy of a human race who wants
the truth.
We need men with mercy and wisdom.
The erosion of the USA must stop.
Men/Woman with blind eyes to the poor and sick.
Lover’s of War.
Their filthy and bloody dreams must died.
We need the human race who pass out food and
medicine.
Not gun and death.
We must elect honest men/woman who won’t
change their vote after they are elected.
For the children. All children.
Need to put the guns down.
End the violence.
Don’t need tears of USA, Africa and Asia Mother’s.
For sons and daughter killed and slaughtered for
the so-call good will of Evil men/woman.

John, you have spoken quite eloquently of the trials we suffer here in the United States at the hands of politicians. You have hit the nail on the proverbial head.
Good job!

Thank you Sandy. I wrote this three years ago. The country got worst. 47 million received welfare in February. We must create jobs or follow Greece into a bad place.

John, I’ve read your poems every so often and think they are excellent. It sounds like you’ve seen it all and done it all, but most importantly you speak from the heart and in a way that reaches out to people; no matter who they are or where they are in this world.
Keep on writing; this planet needs more good people like you; its important that you help others how to find their voice too…

I haven’t done it all. I wish I could do more. I believe each of us had a story to tell. We can learn from each other if we listen. I tell the young people. Travel, test life and have fun. Work will come for 50 years. Dance, sing and raise some cane when you are free of bills and responsibility. Thank you for the comment.

Liked the poem very much! All true!!!!! There are still “Masters of War!” As Phil Ochs sang, “It’s always the old to lead us to the war, Always the young to fall!”

This quote had been true for thousand of years. Poor countries and people pay for the greed of the war machine. Thank you for the comment.

Yeah man, good write! Sorry I ain’t been around for awhile, got a little backed up. Hope all is well. Yes, the erosion must stop. But I do believe we are close. We are starting to hear this all across the board, in every walk of life. People are waking up. Keep shouting brother, maybe we’ll wake up a few more.

This should be an anthem. Brilliantly put. You said: “Poverty inflicts all with equality” and you have no idea how much truth is there. Perhaps why the Prophets of old warned us to stay closer to the poor rather than the kings. But this was always understood as an existential prerogative. Not a state sponsored decree. The arrogance in the kings – and in the very concept of elitism – is the road to slaughter.
Religion gets a bad name. (I can’t speak for the others. I believe in Islam. Each to their own) But each needs to be judged, justly – without us (the executioner) being steered by mainstream media and politicians to a point-of-view the ‘leaders’ – or kings are pushing us to. Why would they do that?… Consider issues of control etc: http://modwestmuse.wordpress.com/2013/04/02/cnn-fake-newscast-and-implications/?preview=true&preview_id=944&preview_nonce=ea4a6fd18d
“Race … mean[s] nothing”: yes, yes and yes. Consider: http://modwestmuse.wordpress.com/2013/01/27/on-how-identity-can-mind-lead-you-away-from-truth/
“Start the saga of forth-right people… We need men with mercy and wisdom”. Absolutely, yes. We must struggle towards an age of Unity, because in the global village, there’s only one home… Consider http://modwestmuse.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=818&action=edit
“We must elect honest men/woman” but perhaps the key word is ‘honest’ – ‘elect’ is secondary, since an over reliance on any system where we – the people – are “Held hostage by Leaders” who profess “good will” but have hearts “of Evil men/woman” is precisely the corruption that wrecks all human attempts to efficiently order the humane.
So my work-in-progress maxims thus far are:
1) keep your guards up to ‘powers-that-be’,
2) open your heart to the differences in ‘we’ ( http://modwestmuse.wordpress.com/2011/11/08/7-step-strategy-for-dealing-with-%E2%80%98distressing%E2%80%99%E2%80%99different%E2%80%99%E2%80%99difficult%E2%80%99-ideas/ ),
3) take heart in the power of the word to build the bridge – but only
4) of the vicegerents, gentle-firm caretakers, seeking honesty. You’ll find them by their material poverty (or selflessness, or generosity) and brotherly camaraderie.
Peace, friend.

I don’t blame religion. All major religions teach set example and accept other people. Have respect for all life. Men change the words to profit their cause. I like your site. I will return in two days and read in more detail. I’m on my 54 hours of work in four days. I get four days off. Good and bad to all things. Thank you for the comment.

I don’t know. I believe a nuclear weapon killing millions will lead us to peace. It is sad. It will take a foolish country to murder many for the meek to react and come alive. Today many countries have weapons that can kill all people in a 40 mile square. I worry for this world. Thank you for the comment.
