I used to be.
I used to be.
A Poem by Coyote Poetry
The past is gone. What can we do to improve our life and show love and kindness to family and friends.

I used to be
A man is telling me of all his many deeds and accomplishments.
I smile and listen.
Pretend I care.
I don’t believe in talking about the past.
Today I’m who I’m.
What matter is what will I do today.
I used to be a drinker.
I used to be a Lover of woman.
I used to tell the world to f-off and travel my direction.
Now those days seem like Myths of someone else life.
I wonder who I’m now?
The drinker lost the want to drink.
The Lover has found someone to hold on to.
The man who ran down streets and beaches telling the world to f-off has faded away.
Older, wiser and smarter?
I know today a man need to be kind.
Need to listen.
Fix problems, not create them.
Treat other with respect.
I use to be wild and crazy.
Now I know.
We need someone to love and protect.

The Apostle Paul came from a background of religious snobbery and murderous hatred of the Christian sect. But eventually he came to say that he forgot those things which were behind and pressed forward diligently in the race for the prize that Jesus held out for him. No room for condemnation or for wallowing in some sanctimonious posture of guilt. He was a new man by the grace of God and he knew it. It wasn’t just a question of learning from mistakes; rather it was extraordinary transformation…Doug

Hello john, normally i come here to read….maybe you’ve grown, and there are events and people that will always come and go in our lives that give us opportunity to rise and fall, but its when we land after its all said and done moving forward that drives us to change and its what defines our character. Don’t look back at what you were, look forward to who you have become. BTW…i love this,

Love and kindness become very important. Old age teaches us. Negative actions and words lead us to no-where. Thank you for the comment.

I think we look for more, we desire more, something with greater depth, something bigger and better than ourselves. In our search I believe we learn that kindness and love will lead us to where we need to be. Great thoughts.. I enjoyed it. Thanks by the way for liking my post “Outstretched.” I appreciate you stopping by.

I have struggled with the idea of growing old most of my life. In part because I never expected to live long enough to get there, but here I sit with the rest of those aging folks past prime. It’s not as bad as I thought it would be as I am finding I like the view from here 😉

I believe in the old theory of dying at 39 when I was young. Then 39 became 50. 50 became 75. Life become more important with age. We learn to appreciate the simple things. Thank you for the comment.

I agree. We learn we are not so important. Our kids become important. If we are lucky. Maybe we will do some good.
