A wise person don’t trip on the same spot twice. “I used to be.”
I used to be
A man is telling me of all his many deeds and accomplishments.
I smile and listen.
Pretend I care.
I don’t believe in talking about the past.
Today I’m who I’m.
What matter is what will I do today.
I used to be a drinker.
I used to be a Lover of woman.
I used to tell the world to f-off and travel my own direction.
Now those days seem like Myths of someone else life.
I wonder who I’m now?
The drinker lost the desire to drink.
The Lover has found someone to hold on to.
The man who ran down streets and beaches telling the world to f-off has faded away.
Older, wiser and smarter?
I know today a man need to be kind.
Need to listen.
Fix problems, not create them.
Treat other with respect.
I use to be wild and crazy.
Now I know.
We need someone to love and protect.

Where is Friday Harbor? This is old poetry. I was taught by a wise Grandfather. Don’t matter what you did yesterday. What is important. Is what you will do today. Thank you for reading. I have over forty journals of poetry and story stored away from the day of no internet and the typewriter. Always a lot of material to use.
