Hi John. An amazing Lady there are so many who have done so much we never know about. So glad you shares Irena Sendler’s life. May I thank you very much for liking my poem Scared! Peace and Best Wishes. The Foureyed Poet.
I can’t believe that I have never heard about Irena before. What she did was truly remarkable, she had a great heart and was really brave to do this. It’s a shame that she didn’t get a nobel prices before she passed away.
Irena Sendler is a truly a remarkable woman. Her life defines a heroine of the modern era and her inspirational story deserves to be repeated as often as possible.
Not everyone knows that Irena Sendler’s legacy is connected to four ninth graders in Kansas, USA, who captured her courage and her compassion in a staged presentation called “Life in a Jar.” Their project quickly spilled over into their community and ultimately attracted global attention.
Many details about Irena Sendler, A Heroine of the Holocaust, can be found at http://quilligrapher.hubpages.com/hub/Sendler. It connects the lives of this brave social worker in Poland and four dedicated students in Kansas who brought her amazing story to life.
John Coyote, you should be commended for spreading the inspirational memory of this marvelous woman.
I do remember her. She is the kind of heroine whose life work was its own prize. She might have been too humble to accept the award, being recognized was not her goal…the mark of a true angel walking among us. Thanks for sharing her story.

The Nobel Prize was given to someone who made a slideshow and not to someone who deserved to have a movie made about her.
Al Gore should be ashamed of himself for accepting, and those who gave it to him should be ashamed. God bless this woman and others like her that we may never know about.
Thank you for sharing this story. I had never heard of Irena. It reminds me that there are countless unsung heroes among us, or who have died for us.
