| Those Who Love~ Sara Teasdale
|
 |
Those who love the most,
Do not talk of their love,
Francesca, Guinevere,
Deirdre, Iseult, Heloise,
In the fragrant gardens of heaven
Are silent, or speak if at all
Of fragile inconsequent things.
And a woman I used to know
Who loved one man from her youth,
Against the strength of the fates
Fighting in somber pride
Never spoke of this thing,
But hearing his name by chance,
A light would pass over her face.

I Would Live In Your Love
~ Sara Teasdale |
|
|
I would live in your love as the sea-grasses live in the sea,
Borne up by each wave as it passes,
drawn down by each wave that recedes;
I would empty my soul as the dreams
that have gathered in me,
I would beat with your heart as it beats,
I would follow your soul as it leads.

Oh Are You Coming?
~ Sarah Teasdale |
|
 |
Oh you are coming, coming, coming,
How will hungry Time put by the hours till then? –
But why does it anger my heart to long so
For one man out of the world of men?
Oh I would live in myself only
And build my life lightly and still as a dream –
Are not my thoughts clearer than your thoughts
And colored like stones in a running stream?
Now the slow moon brightens in heaven,
The stars are ready, the night is here –
Oh why must I lose myself to love you,
My dear?

When we read the ancient Poets and writers. We bring them back to life. I found Sara Teasdale yesterday. Her words are about love and are perfect. I like the old logic. Read, read and read some more. Make the old writer feel your appreciation them in the utopia for us writers somewhere.
