Sleep brings pleasure
A safe place to hide
From the reality of my life

Tomorrow approaches
A reminder that nothing
Holds me back
Nothing more than myself

Each day slips away
As the drip, drip in my sink
Unending tears
So hard to disappear

Calm settles with the
Moonless night
The summer rain sings
The world is empty

But shooting stars light the sky
I wonder who else is
Staring at the stars?
