We watched each other, only with a sideways glance

Our emotions played tug of war, as we denied the

Strength of our trust in each other

But the pull was consistent and even enough to coax

Our hands to meet in the middle, away from our beaten hearts

Now we tie a knot in the middle of our rope where our hands

Finally met, and bound together it will remain, through sun showers,

And through storm until it appears weather and tried

The small rays it will suffer through time are necessary to

Create the friction against the natural forces that may challenge

The strength of our knot…

And even though there may come times when the elements seem

Harsh enough to pull our knot apart, a timely, gentle chinook
