The tree by Lake St. Clair
The tree
When I was in the Army. I was always in the desert.

110 in the sun. No place to take cover or cool down. Us old soldiers would gather.
Talk of the family and home. A soldier from West Virginia told us often.
I need my trees and my river. So damn tire of the heat.
I returned to the USA. Stationed in California, Georgia and Texas.
Hot days and little comfort from the heat.
I returned back home to Michigan and
now I sit with my trees.
I told them often.
I’m glad to be home with you.
The great lakes and the forest.
Still God’s country to the people who know and can see the beauty of nature.
