A Heart Like Mom’s

This poem I wrote the day that my mother died in 2003.  It was published in her funeral flier for the family. The rhythm and flow of this poem was inspired from my mothers love of the serenity prayer in the Bible that says, “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference”.  For anyone who’s lost their mother, I hope it gives you comfort and peace. Dedicated to the memory of Carolyn Faye Oliver Cooper.  I didn’t know it at the time, but you were my best friend.  Always remembered, never forgotten and ALWAYS, ALWAYS CLOSE BY. I love you!
