My World In a Dress
I made a way out
of no way out
from the Kingdom
that dressed up
as my Childhood.
~
And dress up it did.
Some say pictures
tell us a story,
I’ve learned pictures
hide much of the story –
many times over.
~
Every good effort
was made to put
a Brady Bunch
dress on it
outside of the havoc
that was going on
in that house.
~
And – there were believers all around.
~
Looking back, this
may have hit the hardest –
having the most
negative impact.
~
Fact is, it took a long
time and a lot of
comparative thinking to
search for just what it all
was supposed to have done
to me.
~
So, what did it do?
~
I don’t know.
~
I’m writing about it
all these years later
so I suppose it did
