Sonnet: True Greatness

It hath been writ that greatness of a soul
Is measured, not in lifelong flawlessness,
But in ones resurrection of that whole
With which existence one was born to bless
This world, to which one volunteered to come,
And make for each life of ones own a part
A safe, dependable and happy home
In the embrace of ones expanding heart
For so our hearts are truly born to be —
Ever upon that self-forgiving way
Allows forgiveness of each other see
For whatever hath happened on the way
If true greatness these words do not belie
My friend, upon this day — you qualify
