A platypus fell deep in love,
with a fierce hawk flying above.
One day they met, a friendship set,
their heartbeats formed a great duet.

The platypus was known as Jane,
her beloved hawk was once named Shane.
They played each day, under sun rays,
enjoying laughs when skies turned grey.

As Jane exposed the love she felt,
Shane loved her too and promptly knelt.
Followed their hearts, right from the start,
they vowed to never be apart.

Some differences soon came to light,
Jane felt inadequate at sight.
She could not fly, lacking hawk eyes,
inside feeling her worth had died.

Loud silence made Shane feel uptight,
he knew that something was not right.
