I’d like to write a lullaby
Please read the work of the talented writer.
I’d like to write a lullaby
to soften all the sadness
growing here inside
where ghosts go to hide,
but every time I try
I can’t seem to find
the words or the rhyme;
I’d like to write a lullaby
to show that east and west
are nothing more than points
on a compass;
I’d like to write a lullaby
that helps you go to sleep
that may make you weep,
but that’s okay
it might be what you need
just something to feel
help your sore heart heal;
I’d like to write a lullaby
that you can take away
maybe pass to another
and stem the bleed;
I’d like to write a lullaby
that means more than words
that feels like the sea
tickling your feet,
I’d like to set it free
and let it grow from seed
be a memory to keep.
