Stealing a Kiss

A amazing poem. Please read the writer work.

A toe in the water with Mistletoe

Mistletoe is a parasitic flowering plant. It grows on the branches of pecan, hickory, oak and red maple trees. It sinks roots into the branches and steals water and some nutrients.

Stealing a Kiss
by Rebel Poetess

We kissed under a
detached mistletoe setting —
seems long ago

Mistletoe is a parasite plant
(didn’t you know)

It sucks nutrients in the winter
from its host tree who has
lost its leaves. Doesn’t say please
for the water it steals.

He leaves me
just as I’ve lost
the leaves of my life book
turning crumbling pages
in our romance novel, and
I take leave this lachrymose day
a crumbling leaf in the dirt
decaying in soiled love
