Somewhere in time.
Somewhere in time…
I found the Pacific in 2016. The late May-days of Monterey were upon the ancient city. I wandered to the old places, I once knew. I was a stranger now in the city I loved. The books stores were gone, my hippy friends had disappeared.
I sat with Hemingway statue on the bench on the pier. I wandered in my mind to beautiful places, beautiful faces and I told the sea. Somewhere in time. I had everything I needed. Once majestic woman told me. I will love you forever. Once I suicide the Winter storms of the Pacific. I danced with the sea and she kept my safe. Now I am older and slower.
I remembered, the Monterey surfers telling me. Don’t trifle with useless things. If you own everything, a heavy load to carry.
I told the rising moon. Once I was the fortunate one. I know the taste of freedom, kissed a few California gals and I knew the free people.
Now I teach my grandchildren. Be wild, be crazy. Travel, taste life and love many. Time isn’t our friend. Life is to be lived.
I take off my shoes and I allow the coldness of the sea to awake my soul. I dance with the sea and the stars danced with me. I hear the kind whisper of the sea. You ain’t done yet Johnnie.
