About page-A old Poet with dreams of peace and stories to tell. Was a soldier, a businessman, father and grandfather.
John Castellenas/ Coyote
Artwork, AAMonterey
A Poet and writer who love to read and write.
My pleasure is reading about the bad and good in a life.
Also to honor the Poets/Writers of the past by reading their words.
Remember the great words of the Old Poets. What would we know of the past?
Wasn’t for their strong and powerful words left for us to read and understand.
We must remember the great writers by reading their words. To allow them to show us the way to great literature.
I have a rendezvous with death
Alan Seeger
In Flanders Fields.
Lieutenant Col. John MccCrae
Trees
Sergeant Joyce Kilmer
Three poems left for us to read by great men. Education and beauty in their words.
Coyote
A old Army veteran who worry for the eco-system
and the children having a safe world to live in.
A Ojibwa/Mexican who believe we need to write down family history
to keep alive for future generations.
So they can understand the world around them.
I like your poetry very much…it has soul.

Hi John, here it’s Queen 😄 you have had a very interesting life. Today I was moved by reading about your brothers lost in the war. I am Italian, I have had friends and relatives who have left for Iraq and Afghanistan and some have not returned. They were all very young and no one can understand what it means to be there, to live those moments, and we can only imagine how hard it was. I wanted to be part of the air force, to fly a plane but I have vision problems and I have not passed the tests. I too would have liked to fight but now I know you didn’t have a single enemy to fight. Each time a new enemy appears. Unfortunately, bad men will always exist and I always thank those who allow all of us to be able to live a little peaceful. I respect you very much John and my father was a soldier, he also died young but of a tumor. My grandfather fought the war and my grandparents were in the resistance and fought together with the Americans against Hitler. I listened to them tell certain war stories when I was a child but I didn’t understand everything. I live here near Aviano, you Americans are behind the door of my house, when airplanes or helicopters fly over the sky I always greet you because you are brave, you are strong and I admire you and I would also like to be up there with you. But my fate was very bad. However I wanted to send you many hugs to you and to your family and I will pray for you and for peace on this earth.

Hey John, My kind of guy! Loved your about statement. I love the old poets and the classic wisdom that they have passed down to us also. Big fan of Robert Frost, Poe, Jack London. I guess I’m kind of like I am with music, I like individual songs more than becoming attached to the artist. Same way for me with poets. You aren’t that old?? It’s a relative thing. Your contributions go beyond yourself as they reach and validate even the furtherst voice on the web. I respect you for this as I have found poets through your shares with hardly any support for thier amazing poems and voice. It is not a matter of likes or followers (I heard this recently and laughed- Hilter had thousands of followers and jesus had twelve) but a matter of oen finding another in the experiencing of love, life, hardship and validation. This is what you do for others and I am proud to say that here and wish you many more blessings and much success,

Hi there, my name is Alyssa. We’ve been following each other on WordPress for a while now, and I was wondering if you’d be interested in doing some kind of book swap for promo.
I recently made the move into self-publishing, and I know that you’re a writer as well, and if you’re interested, I thought we could swap copies. I’d read a book of yours and write a blog post promoting it in the following week, while you read a book of mine and (if you enjoy it of course) promote it on your own blog. I think it’d be a great way for both of us to reach new audiences.
Feel free to say no, and good luck with all your writing endeavors! =)

“And now I must ask pardon for the space I have given him. (He is my friend, and I love him.) The house was shaking to the storm, as he drew closer to the fire and laughed at it through his wine. He looked at me, and by the added lustre of his eye, and by the alertness of it, I knew that at last he was pitched in his proper key.
“And so you think you’ve won out against the gods ?” he demanded.
“Why the gods?”
“Whose will but theirs has put satiety upon man?” he cried.
“And whence the will in me to escape satiety?” I asked triumphantly.
“Again the gods,” he laughed. “It is their game we play. They deal and shuffle all the cards . . . and take the stakes. Think not that you have escaped by fleeing from the mad cities. You with your vine-clad hills, your sunsets and your sunrises, your homely fare and simple round of living!
“I’ve watched you ever since I came. You have not won. You have surrendered. You have made terms with the enemy. You have made confession that you are tired. You have flown the white flag of fatigue. You have nailed up a notice to the effect that life is ebbing down in you. You have run away from life. You have played a trick, shabby trick. You have balked at the game. You refuse to play. You have thrown your cards under the table and run away to hide, here amongst your hills.”
Fabulous!

Hello. I don’t know whether you will read this or not, but… it’s just strange for you liking my blog, and especially a post which is not in English. I am reading your posts, but I cannot find any clue which would make me think you understood what you liked. Please tell me I am wrong.
Your posts are interesting, though, but I am just a bit… sceptical about people who come and follow my blog, and then press “like” to the first post, that’s all.
Have a nice day!

I was station in Europe and Asia with the military. I love to travel and one day be able to do again. Thank you for the translators. Allowed us with weak skills in language to read and learn. I did write and speak Spanish and German many years ago. Too many year of not using allowed skills to be forgotten. I read and write poetry and story in many places. I roam looking for interesting topics for my poetry and story. I was lucky and found your site. Thank you for stopping by. Our world is becoming smaller. Internet allowed people from the four corners of our world to communicate. Here is the USA. Our media is bias. You must seek knowledge from Asia, Africa and Europe to know the real truth.

Thank-you, johncoyote, for reading my post about writers’ groups and subscribing to my blog. After reading your posts and poems, the themes of freedom and humanity chime in your words. I believe, as you do, that words are agents of change. Poets and writers during the 60s were the catalysts for social change when their words settled in the hearts of the people. Leonard Cohen is a fine example.
Bloggers have an obligation and a opportunity to effect change, too. Then as now, words will settle in the hearts of the collective. Keep writing.
Here’s a way to reach an international audience with your words – http://www.museodelapalabra.com/en/short-tales-contest/3-edition/participation-form
Good luck and God speed..

Kin; like family. Should I say you are like family, John Coyote? Is there a reason you feel familiar? Is there a reason I recognize you, even though I’ve never seen you before? Maybe, maybe not.
You feel tired, John, weary like death itself. You feel cold to the touch, your skin clammy and your eyes half-closed. Yet….
You live, you walk, you write and the words bring truth that can’t be undone.
There is a bond between all people and it’s one that can’t be broken. Can’t be severed with fist, knife or bullet. Can’t be crushed beneath boot, wheel or tread. It is one that war won’t ever destroy, no matter how many lives it takes. Am I speaking nonsense, John?
Maybe. I do tend to ramble.
I am getting rather ahead of myself.
Thanks for reading my blog and my poetry. Poetry is as much a raw part of me as any of my stories. I’m glad you found a few poems you enjoyed. I’ve– perhaps it’s wrong to say I’ve enjoyed your work. I’ve experienced your work. Let’s say that much instead. I like it. Let’s also say that. It speaks truth where it needs to be spoken, and holds a sadness to it that I can only just understand. That is what it is. And we are what we are.
Wonderingly,
Eris

Thanks for listening to Val and Morgan’s voices. I read your work, it grabs me, sometimes pulls me into a underworld of chaos, loss and pain. Sometimes is grabs my by the throat. Often I find myself wondering how do we normalized these horrors? How, indeed, do the bystanders find forgiveness for our dissociation from a nation of pain. Thank you for your voices, it wakes me.
