Just meat and tales of kisses

Jack London
He gathered her into his arms and kissed her. “I wish it were the custom,” she said in a faint voice, from the midst of the embrace, “because then I’d have to marry you, Ned… dear…wouldn’t I?”
Jack London
Just meat and tales of kisses
Civil men are few.
True leader stand for the right things.
Will not accept self-gain and profit.
Bought men are crooks with fake smiles.
Liars and thieves will pay for their action in hell.
Silence, calm and peace should be the night for all children.
No child should know the sound of war. The fear of surviving the night and to live
in the violence of war always near.
Old men told me. The soldiers are just meat for the profit of war. Dead on dead. The
wars will never end. We are just meat for the hatred of man.
Soldiers who instruct the new soldiers have great responsibility. They are training soldiers
how to fight and survive in combat. I saw the old NCO(non-commission officers) who felt
the pain of losing soldiers to war. A instructor teaches every soldier to be a leader. He must
teach the young men and woman the lessons of war, death and misery before it is real.
Pretty girl hold and kisses her departing Soldier. She whispered this kiss is a promise. A promise
of more. Please come home to me.
One last fight. A man won’t rest till he had nothing left.
No sweeter word than home.
Nothing as beautiful and wonderful as woman with open arms.
Welcoming you back from hell to heaven with one sweet kiss.
Is all life just meat?
I do know kisses are promises.
When rich men in Washington D.C send young men to police a world who do not
desire our help. Maybe Jack London told us the truth. Men are just meat for the profit
of war and life?

James Oliver Curwood rather than J.L. I stopped by Owosso (spelling not sure) years ago to see his ‘castle,” on the way home from Sault St Marie (my mother raised there). I always wondered why he seemed to fade and JL increase – Curwood was painfully romantic I suppose – alas :). Nothing really to do with your work below other than I believe both writers felt no on really understood the North and the beauty there – they treated the land in the same fashion as soldiers you mention below. Not to leave on a depressing note – have a good and peaceful day.

Best poetry from World war one were the war Poets writing of nature and home. With old age. I understand their wants and needs. Thank you for reading and the comment.

I envy your old age rather than mine, I comprehend less and find myself pushing a way from poetry and fiction., especially 20th and 21st work. But again the best to you and your work. Regards, SKW

So many things to read. My daughter and son like the new non-fiction. Futuristic type stories. I started reading the ancient writers in the past three years. Take patience and quiet place. I believe we must read what make ourselves content. So many good books. Only books I can’t read are the romance type books.

Spencer and I have made a study of CS Lewis’ “The Discarded Image,” and I love his work “Preface to Paradise Lost.” Tolkien too was a wonderful scholar on Medieval, Barbara Pym mentions a lecture in her diaries with Tolkien – she is another wonderful writer, Ms Pym. Which brings us both to the moral of this conversation, John, each writer I mentioned is 20th century – never trust a woman, she always means the opposite of what she says. :). Oh how I hate painting myself into a corner…

I didn’t have the patience to read the Tolkien type books. I end-up buying the book c.d. I listen to them in my car. The book “Preface to Paradise lost” sound interesting. I will look it up.
