For the ashes guard the day.
But thier brave souls do not abscond-
When fire obscures the way.

Tonight we are not many-
For our sorrows have made us one.
We will reach out for weight to carry-
From all hearts beneath the sun.

Carry not your burdens small-
discard thine bannered sash.
For tonight we heed our truest call-
and fan away the ash.
