These later recordings that he did with Rick Rubin are his best work ever. They are raw, and emotional. They are essential recordings and we are fortunate to have been given them by Mr. Cash. he was not in the best health, during their recording, but he wanted to leave something, he needed to, and I am grateful that he did. They brought him back in a way, and gave him a wider and more diverse audience. You can’t deny he is putting everything into them. Four Strong Winds is one of my favorite songs, whether by Ian and Sylvia or later Neil Young.
He was a true legend and a very good representation of what we should strive to be. He had important messages, especially later in life. It doesn’t really matter that he had problems, he was able to overcome them and that makes him even more of a humble human being.

I agree. Johnnie Cash had a long and good/hard life. He left us with life lessons.
