‘the mist leaves no scar’ Leonard Cohen
In Seasons’ Change
Wind and hawk fly as one
autumn leaves
change their hue to match the sun
days shorten and shadows stretch towards the horizon
as I live and breathe in rhythm with seasons change;
Long-shadows creep across the earth, chill nights
fall early in 4 pm twilight
stationary fireflies
as each street light
blinks on…
… cold darkness rolls in
winters’ grasp aches in old bones
and winter-dawnlight holds
no warmth “
– but ah that morning mist, drifting
with softest touch!
The mist leaves no scar, as I
live and breathe in rhythm with seasons change;
An early spring slips in on elusive waves of intermittent warmth
wind and hawk still fly chill winds, but
crested pigeon breaks out his mating dance
– bush turkey, not one for song and romance
Crashes through shadowy bushes chasing his mate…
dappled patches of sunshine and shade lend a sparkling beauty
to the day, imbued as it is
with the surreal air of merging seasons- winter not yet over
while spring waits impatiently to take the stage…
… summer in line, somewhere beyond the horizon
as I live and breathe in rhythm with seasons change;
