If our love only existed
In the vodka flavoured
Whispers we traded
When the world was asleep
Then it would be everlasting.

But it existed in the kitchens
Where men who knew my secrets
Called me a slut before anyone
Even knew what lay inside my body.

It existed in her bed
Where you laid you head,
Even if the home you claimed
Was deep inside my heart.

It existed in that park
Where love came into bloom
And died in the chill
Of everything we never said.

It existed in that ring
That you carried like a key
That kept people out,
And you tossed it in a river
As if that would break its power.
