A song and the beautiful words.
( My father first wife wrote the words for the songs from 1940-1958. She died of cancer in 1958. My father would memorize and sing at the local taverns in his young days. The songs are beautiful poetry. The classic songs)
I can’t help it
Today I passed you on the street
and my heart fell at your feet.
I can’t help if I am still in love with you.
Somebody else stood by your side
and he looked so satisfied.
I can’t help it if I am still in love with you.
A picture from the past came slowly stealing
as I brushed your arm and walked so close to you.
Then suddenly I got the old time feeling.
I can’t help it if I am still in love with you.
It’s hard to know another’s lips will kiss you
and hold you just the way I used to do.
Oh, heaven only knows how much I miss you.
I can’t help it if I am still in love with you.

My father’s first wife who died of cancer in 1958. Wrote out 500 songs for him. He sang the old country songs. He died on 21 Jan and I found the 60 plus years hand typed work of the ancient song.

What a labor of love. Your father’s first wife must have transcribed the songs from listening to them on the radio or records?
