A light of ghostly white
An ethereal pallor
from another dominion
Nudges around the headland in the east
and spreads a thin line the length entire
of the inky horizon
While upon the tranquil seas
it slowly lays a sheet of shimmering silver
Whose metallic sheen
edges to’ard the deserted beach
‘Til an arc of glowing ivory
pushes up from the unseeable underworld
toward this mortal realm
As it ascends the walls of the pale blue heavens
for to reveal its glorious countenance
of benign beauty
When the orb of night
the great moon as old as time itself
Assumes its celestial throne
in glorious majesty
high above the world
The slumbering souls below for to guard
through the hours of night
Until the new morn is nigh
