Memorial day poetry- Soldier on
A Poem by Coyote Poetry
Memorial Day. May 30. ![]()
Soldier on….
- “Penny – signifies that someone (veteran or civilian) has visited the grave
- Nickel – signifies that the coin-leaver attended boot camp with the veteran
- Dime – signifies that the coin-leaver served with the veteran in some capacity
- Quarter – signifies that the coin-leaver was present when the veteran died”
Memorial Day is coming, and I will put coins on the fallen soldier’s gravestone.
In the early morning before the people come on Memorial day.
I will burn white sage for them, lost too soon in old and new wars.
I will stand with other soldiers, old and young.
We will discuss our missed friends and the good days we had.
The WW2 vet will tell me.
“Soldier on Johnnie,
we must live for our friends,
who cannot.
We must ensure they are not forgotten.”
I hope the people of the USA understand.
Freedom isn’t free, it cost spenty.
Please don’t give freedom away without a fight.

As a UK Veteran of the NI conflict, I hope everyone appreciates all the soldiers in all the wars and conflicts who paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we can have the freedom we enjoy today.💋❤💋

I want to thank all past, present, and future soldiers but especially those whom were lost during their service making the sacrifices they made. I do not condone war but I honor those whom had to do what they had to do to help protect our freedoms. Grateful. ❤ Let us use Memorial Day to honor and never forget them.

Me and my grandson, we put a penny on the Veterans graves. I have lost friends to war when I served. I go to the Memorial Day activities early. I like the quiet and thank you for reading and the comment.
