My step-father fought in Europe from 1942-1945. Never spoke one words about his war. WW2. He was a Paratrooper. My father fought in the Korean war. It consumed him. On Memorial day. I remember friends who cannot speak no-more.
“We are the witness,
without a witness,
we will become forgotten.”
Today is Memorial Day.
Please remember. Freedom isn’t free.

oh, my grandpa, who loved me like his only son, shared many stories, but he would never talk about the war. Just one time, during a thunderstorm, he said, “That sounded like guns at Verdun.”
