Why do we write? Why do we paint? Why do we create?
Why do we write? Why do we paint? Why do we create?
( April is poetry month. This is new poem number thirty.)
The poet don’t cry. He write the misery of life to paper. He write about days of joy.
He wrote about memories and kisses. Some say. Poets love words more than love.
I adore the artist. With tender fingers, they create vision of places, visions of faces and
visions of twisted thoughts. They say. Painters are madmen, madwomen. They can
see too much in everything.
Us who love to write. We love to fall into the folly of life. Poets love to paint words to
create tears, to create laughter and remind us. Live more, dance more and drink more.
I believe we need the writers, we need the poets and we need the artist. They create
left-over memories. We need to remember.
My favorite are the war poets, writers who write of the ugliness of war. We need these
memories. Maybe we won’t repeat them?

I do remember some very impressive sketches made by a german expressionist painter, he draws fellow soldiers in trenches, some killed and torn apart, other sharing the living in them dugouts…it was stong, poignant, simple sketches ink on paper, but they were so strong, even if I can remember exactly his name…think it was August Macke, or Franz Marc, both died in the war. Otto Dix did some strong work too, he survived it, later to be rejected by Nazis, at least they did not execute him…your words remind me of that exhibition seen to long time ago…and memory well, is not perfect…

Thank you for the wonderful comment. WW1 and WW2 poets and artist. Many lost to war. But they left us with the truth of war.

THIS line right here:
“Poets love to paint words to
create tears, to create laughter and remind us. Live more, dance more and drink more.”
I can strongly resonate with this! Words are my way of expressing in ways that tears can’t.
I’m one to remind people to laugh more, reminding them that life is just too short to not live. We all need to dance more, sing more, laugh more, explore places and corners of the world that bring nostalgia, tranquility, joy, and peace.
By reminding others, it brings me a sense of peace, because I know exactly how it feels to feel alone in this big wide world, to hurt so much inside that it feels like your heart turned to stone.
Being a voice for the voiceless softens the ache a little. Each time I help someone, the heavy weight inside, isn’t so heavy. A light breaks through and shines a little brighter.
