“A woman, like you”
A woman, like you.
A Poem by Coyote Poetry

Reading my poetry from 1993. Made me think of a good memory and good time.

A woman. like you.
Me and my sweet love sat on a bench at the Monterey pier on a warm Winter day in 1992.I held her tightly and I whispered softly into her ear.
I want a woman, like you.
A woman with eyes like the deep blue sea.
With the hunger to touch and feel every pleasure.
I need to hear your laughter.
To listen to your stories and great dreams.
To be able to fall into your arms and hold you tightly when the
coldness of the night overtake us.
The kind woman smiled.
Shared warm and sweet kisses.
Told me.
“Love is fair. People who can love without fear. Open secret places and doors.
Feel safe and needed. The award is joy and peace. You are my calm and peace.”
I thanked my blue-eyed girl.
I told her
“Tonight we dance by the sea. Drink sweet red wine and forget the world for a time.
Allow the sea to sing to us. The Kind Pacific ocean keeps secret of new and old lovers.
Trying to find paradise and safety in love for a moment.”
The woman smiled and told me.
“Life is to be lived and celebrated my prince.
Let’s go to the sea and we can dance with the moon and the stars.
Tonight we are free and I love you so.
Love is the last freedom. Hold me tightly and never let me go.”
The Pacific ocean was alive and well.
Two more lover’s joined with the ghost of old lover’s and new.
Making the spirit of the sea smile.
Love and kindness are the way to joy and happiness.

Ha ha… those are the exact same years that I was stationed there. Such a small world! I worked in the S2 at the HHC aviation Brigade. 😉

I was a Supply Sgt and I read poetry in Monterey and Pacific Grove weekly. I loved Monterey.

I loved Monterey too and Point Lobos was the best place to escape to on the weekends. I’m sure we must have crossed paths at some point. I was one of the last soldiers left on post before it closed down. Miss that place so much…

Me too. I closed down my unit and I closed down the headquartors. I was one of the last soldier in my DISCOM.

Same for me… everyone else in my office was sent to Korea. I ended up going to Ft. Knox. I was the last Intel. Analyst on post.

I went to Fort Hood, Texas for 6 years. Time does go too fast. Next year I will visit Monterey.

I last visited Monterey in 2006. Went by the old barracks. We had painted our door blue with white handprints and the door was still there. Lol…. Enjoy your time there. It’s an amazing place. I grew up in California, so I go back often, but don’t always go up north. I mostly go back to Santa Barbara where I grew up.

My brother lived outside of San Diego. Kids have finally left the house. Maybe I will travel again. We need to keep busy.

My two oldest are out and I still have 2 at home. I plan to travel as much as possible in the coming years. My husband is still in the Army and headed overseas next month. Have fun with your travels. 🙂
