Two version of amazing song. Which one is better? And a new poem.
Everybody knows..
New world isn’t so easy. Each day, more people walking the line of homelessness. Do we eat? Do we buy gas? Do we pay our rent? A dollar bill became useless and the people. Reaching for help and the rich men and women eating steak in Washington D.C. They don’t see them.
Everybody knows. The monsters are buying the leaders in the USA. Guns, liquor and cigarette lobbyists. They bought the elections and the poor is getting poorer. The rich is getting richer.
Now the children are watching us. They believe we gave up. Maybe we did? We have allowed a monster in Russian to mess-up the world. We watch Ukraine, like a TV show. I told people often. The far-away wars will find your doorstep. Our children will be fighting the old men wars.
My grandfather would be disappointed in this world. We have given-up freedoms and the world. Has accepted less. My Father fought in WW2. He fought three year in the Black Forest of Germany. He believed. This was the last war. So sad. The new wars came and they kept coming.
Everybody knows. The game is fixed.
The children disappointment can be seen in their eyes. 40 million people may lose their homes and the USA. Hunger is alive and well and the damn leader in Washington D.C getting 2.3 million dollars to eat and sleep.
I pray we awake before all the good is gone. I pray our children are not fighting the old wars and every children, everywhere in this world. Have shelter, food and opportunity.
Or did the brave men and brave women fall asleep and walking blindfolded?
Coyote
Yes, the good guys lost — or as you suggest, just gave up. We all gave up.
BTW, Sigrid is good but Leonard is the master!

I been a fan of Leonard Cohen since 1975. I saw him in concert once in 1978 and once in 1979. He was, one of a kind.
